#FeesMustFall Book 'Rioting and Writing' now Available for Free Download

July 4, 2018

The student driven and written book, 'Rioting and Writing: Diaries of Wits Fallists' is now available for free download. This follows the successful circulation of the hardcopy of the book from June 2017. The book, that was published in collaboration with SWOP where necessary, is now being made available for electronic circulation.  The book can be accessed here

This is a unique book written and grounded on the particular positionalities, experiences and perspectives of some of the protagonists of the #FeesMustFall movement. This volume is based on a collective and creative process driven by some of the student activists. The #FMF movement challenged the power relations within a neoliberal university in a post-colonial context and brought to the fore other struggles within the broader society. The book provides a critical analysis of the movement drawing from its key pillars of Pan Africanism, intersectionality, Black radical feminism and student-worker solidarity. It explores how the movement reopened and deepened (redefined) the call for decolonised and decommoditised education.
