Flashes in her Soul tells the story of Jabu Ndlovu, a shop steward at the Prestige Kitchenware factory in Pietermaritzburg and a community leader in Imbali township. She was killed in 1989 in a fire-bomb attack on her home.

Her story represents the experiences of thousands of women who struggled and suffered under apartheid and as a result of the civil war in KwaZulu-Natal in the 1980s and 1990s.
