SWOP Associate, Dr Asanda Benya has been awarded as one of the 2018 Atlantic Fellows for Racial Equity. The fellows are 'grassroots activists, writers, lawyers, academics, artists and strategists working in diverse communities across the United States and South Africa'. Dr Benya, a lecturer at the University of Cape Town, joins 29 other inaugural fellows on the year-long programme.
According to Dr Benya: 'To realize my vision of a world free of racial inequity, sexism, class inequalities and homophobia, we need to build vibrant and progressive civil society structures.
